This feed sounds great! However, I have heard it argued that non-laying birds should not be fed complete layer diets because the extra calcium can cause kidney damage. Since molting birds typically stop laying (and if they’re not on lights might stop for most the winter), could this cause them harm? Or do they need the calcium for feather regrowth and to replenish their stores?
Molting is a time to replenish nutrients in the system, including calcium. A layer based diet, including a feed like NatureWise Feather Fixer, are good choices to feed during molt.
